Just in time for this years festive season, Bajaj launches the Pulsar 160 NS with a rear Disc brake. Spotted at showrooms in Pune, Maharashtra, no other changes have been made to the bike. It continues to use the 160.3cc single cylinder 4 valve engine. The engine uses Bajaj’s triple spark plug technology which churns out a power of 15.5 HP and 14.6 Nm of torque. Even the colour options available shall remain the same.

The rear disc brake variant of the bike is priced at INR 82,630(Ex-Showroom, Pune) which is INR 2,130 more than the drum brake variant. With its looks borrowed from its elder sibling the Pulsar NS200, the Pulsar NS160 competes with the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Honda CB Hornet 160R, all of which are available with a rear disc brake.

The introduction of the bike without a rear disc brake enabled Bajaj to price the NS160 at a very competitive rate which helped boosting sales. However, at a price difference of about INR 2,000 only, it makes sense to have the rear disc brake variant only.  The 230mm rear disc seems to be borrowed from the NS200. The front continues to use the 240mm disc. We were quite surprised by the performance of the bike when it had launched about a year ago. Click here for our detailed review of the bike.

Spotted by one of our readers, Sagar Deshmukh, we have received another set of spy Images of the much awaited Tata Harrier. Seen again sporting a ‘MH 14’ number plate, these images have very different headlights and tail lights from the previous spy shots. Is it because Tata doesn’t want anybody to see the final design of them before its launch? Maybe yes.

In the Interior shot we see the car has a manual transmission. Just like the concept we showcased a couple of months back, the car features a floating display. A strip starting from both doors, which appears to be finished in grey beautifully slides down to meet below the AC vents and what appear to be the Climate control switches. The Infotainment screen looks large enough and of very promising quality.

The rear of the car features a centrally mounted number plate above which the boot release could be found. The five spoke alloy wheels look sleek and the huge arch gaps give it a raised look. Out front what catches my eyes are the three huge creases on the bonnet which appear to follow the length of the bonnet.

Previously known as the H5X, the name ‘Harrier’ was unveiled in July 2018. The car reportedly will use a Fiat sourced 2.0 Litre 4 cylinder engine which also is found on the Jeep Compass. A six speed manual, as seen in the spy image, and a Hyundai sourced six-speed automatic could be the possible transmission options available. The car is expected to hit the showrooms by January of 2019.

Along with the introduction of the new YZF-R15 Version 3.0 (155 CC) MotoGP Limited Edition and the FZ-S FI 2.0 with rear disc brake and two new colour options, India Yamaha Motor also announced the beginning of the deliveries of the Cygnus Ray ZR Street Rally Edition. The scooter was launched in India in July 2018 at INR 57,898 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The new Yamaha Cygnus Ray ZR Street Rally features sharp, sleek, swift and stylish machine persona. The new ‘Street Rally’ edition adopts a newly designed ‘Wing Style fairing’ (front fairing) inspired from Yamaha MT-09 which, along with serving as the wind deflector, also enhances the sporty look. The new ‘Knuckle Guard’ protects from windblasts on the handle grip and the movable front fender protects from mud splatter.

The characterized ‘Rising Air Tail’ along with the sharp, sporty mirrors and fully digital meter comes along with ‘roller rocker arm’ that is claimed to reduce horsepower loss and offer ‘easy-to-use power’ settings in extremely low speed ranges.

The scooter comes with bold graphics and colour combinations that should appeal to the young buyers. The colour options include Racing Blue and Rally Red. Other feature includes a telescopic suspension, tubeless tires, 170 mm hydraulic disk brake upfront, and digital console. Storage solutions includes a 21-litre seat storage room and front pocket which can fit a 500 ml bottle.

The Ray ZR Street Rally is powered with an 113cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, 113cc “BLUE CORE” engine with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The engine is tuned to deliver 7.1 PS of maximum power @ 7,500 rpm and 8.1 Nm of peak torque @ 5,000 rpm.

Following the blunder of the DSK relationship, Benelli is set to make a comeback to the Indian market. Joining hands with the Mahavir Group, the Italian manufacturer is looking forward to launch a total of 7 new bikes by the end of the year. All the new bikes will be sold through the Completely Knocked Down(CKD) route which translates to an aggressive pricing. Assembly of the parts would be done somewhere near Hyderabad.

The TNT 300, 302R and the TNT 600i will be available in the showrooms from October of 2018. They are the most loved ones from the current line up of the Italian manufacturer. There might be an update to the above three given very soon.Benelli plans to launch 12 new models before 2019. We also expect to see Benelli to remove the TNT25 and the TNT 600 GT from their current line up.

Out of the seven newcomers, the TRK 250 and Lenocino, which means Lion club, are the ones to look out for. The TRK 250 would be designed as an adventure tourer and the Leoncino will carry the looks of the Ducati Scrambler. They will be powered by a newly developed 249.3 cc single cylinder engine. Assisted by liquid cooling, the engine would produce 25.8 HP power and 21.2 Nm of torque. Both of these bikes are undergoing a homologation process and are expected to be completed by September 2018.

Other bikes to come out are the Imperiale 400. Using a 373.5 cc single cylinder engine the bike makes 19 Horsepower and 28 Nm of torque. The cruiser bike, if priced right, could be a serious threat to the offerings of Royal Enfield. Joining the Imperiale 400 would be The TRK 501, The Leoncino 500 and the Leoncino 500 Trail. All three will use a 449.6 cc inline-2 cylinder engine, churning out 47 HP and 45 Nm of torque.  Again, the TRK will be an Adventure Tourer and the Leoncino will look like a mini Scrambler. It will be interesting to see how the revival attempt of Benelli in India goes down. We consider the TRK 250 and the Leoncino 250 to be of great help in this revival.

Ahead of its official unveiling at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2019, a full-scale design concept of the Automobili Pininfarina luxury electric hypercar (codenamed PF0) will be presented exclusively to prospective clients in advance of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Automobili Pininfarina Design Director Luca Borgogno has devised a design brief to cover creation of the most beautiful, all-electric hypercar in the world, codenamed PF0. The design of the PF0 is being developed by the Pininfarina SpA Design Studio, and will be hand-crafted in Cambiano, Italy by the Pininfarina SpA atelier in strictly-limited numbers from 2020.

PF0 is in the final stages of design and has been inspired by famous Pininfarina cars such as the Cisitalia, Modulo and Sintesi. Each featured classic Pininfarina design cues and the necessary blend of beauty and technological innovation in perfect combination. Future PF0 owners – no more than 150 worldwide – are guaranteed the same approach and results, inside and out.

Cloaked in a visually stunning body created from carbon fibre, extreme levels of technology and functional design lie at the heart of the PF0, delivering a staggering performance for a road car:

• A stated ambition to accelerate to 62 mph in less than two seconds
• Break the 250 mph top speed barrier
• Provide a potential zero-emissions range of over 300 miles

Speaking about the upcoming luxury electric hypercar, Michael Perschke, Automobili Pininfarina CEO, said that these special VIP previews mean that future PF0 owners, most of whom will undoubtedly own numerous modern and historic classics, have an opportunity right now to be part of the birth of the company and their hypercar.

Automobili Pininfarina Design Director Luca Borgogno added that the objective with the exterior of PF0 is to design timeless beauty in every aspect, and the interior is equally important.

Ducati successfully concluded its first Independence Day Ride in India, in partnership with Lotus Petal foundation. Over 350 Ducatisti from across the Ducati dealer network came together to celebrate the spirit of Independence and supported the cause of providing education and life of dignity for the children living in the slums.

Kids supported by the Lotus Petal foundation and its founding members, spoke to the Ducatisti at the Ducati Gurgaon showroom and also flagged off the ride which passed through India gate and Delhi roads before culminating in Gurgaon.

The rides started at 7 AM from the Ducati dealerships across Delhi – NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata & Chennai and the Independence Day ended on a positive note with the spirit of independence truly and aptly celebrated by Ducati India and its motorcycle community.

Speaking about the Independence Day ride, Ducati India’s MD, Sergi Canovas said that it’s a proud moment for Ducati, to have organized a first-of-its-kind Independence Day ride in the country, in association with the Lotus Petal Foundation.

Canovas further added that the participation from Ducatistis was a testimony to the brand and the motorcycle community giving a perfect platform for riders to come together to pledge independence from everything that’s holding these children back from achieving their aspirations.

Joining the list of manufacturers to have recently announced price hike for their products due to increased input prices and the currency exchange rates is Maruti Suzuki. The official announcement by the car maker stated:

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced a price change for its models owing to increase in commodity and distribution costs and adverse foreign exchange rates. The price change varies across models and is up to INR 6,100 (Ex-Showroom – Delhi). The new prices are effective from 16th August 2018.

In 2018, we saw price hike announcements from brands like Audi India, Nissan, Datsun, Hyundai and Mahindra. Hyundai India announces a price hike of 2% across product range. The Hyundai Grand i10 too received a price hike in August 2018. Mahindra hiked the prices of its products like the XUV500, Scorpio, TUV300 and KUV100 by up to INR 30,000. The prices of the Nissan and of Datsun vehicles too increased by up to 2%

The marginal price hike, as aforementioned, is already effective (from August 16, 2018). The car maker is now gearing up for the launch of its updated sedan, the Ciaz.

The fourth generation of the Jimny could possibly make its way to India. With the old  Maruti Suzuki SUV, the Gypsy still having such a faithful Fan cult, could the Jimny recreate the magic? We all could find out very soon. Here is all you need to know about the New 2018 Suzuki Jimny.

Available in the international market, The fourth generation Jimny follows a lineage of serious off roaders. The first generation Jimny debuted in 1970 and continued till 1981. It made a huge impact in the Global market giving it recognition in worldwide markets. The second generation which came out in 1981 was sold under various other names. The beloved Maruti Gypsy, which is still available in the Indian market, was, infact, a second generation Jimny. The third generation came out in 1998, and was missed out by the Indian market which has us even more excited for the fourth generation Jimny.

The exterior styling hits the right spot. A very basic boxy shape mixed with modern design gives the car a nice look. Certain styling cues inspired from the older generation Jimny’s are present on the latest model. Like the round headlamps and separate indicators from the first generation, the tail lights on the bumper remind us of the second generation Jimny. The horizontal slats in the front grille are reminiscent of the third generation.

Currently on sale in Japan at JPY 14,58,000 (Rs. 9.02 Lakh) for the base model Jimny XG, going up to JPY 20,19,600 (Rs. 12,49 Lakh) for the top-end Jimny Sierra JC variant, the Jimny features a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, Hill hold function, Hill Descent control, Lane Departure warning, ABS and ESC, Airbags and 4 wheel drive with a  low range gearbox. The rear seats fold down individually for more boot space if required. However the Indian spec may miss out on a few features. Here is what we think the Indian spec will have:

• The top of the line Jimny Sierra is most likely to be made available. Maruti has no current plans to launch the 3 door, short wheel base. To be made available in three trim variants; XG, XL and XC
• The car will be powered by a Diesel motor. The 1462cc engine borrowed from the ciaz facelift with a 104 BHP and and 138 Nm of torque tune.
• An optional Turbocharged 660cc 3 cylinder petrol engine will also be available.
• Will come with the option of a five speed manual or a 4 speed automatic transmission.
• Will feature a ladder chassis, the rear gets a 3-link rear suspension, unlike the Gypsy which has leaf springs.
• A 4×4 Drivetrain will come as standard with a low ratio gearbox. Power goes to the rear wheel in 2 wheel drive mode.
• At 210 mm the ground clearance is good and a turning radius of 4.9 meter is impressive.
• The dimensions of the Jimny Sierra is 3,600 mm in length, 1,600 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,250 mm.It is 300 mm longer and comes with flared wheel arches that extend its width by 125 mm compared to the normal Jimny.
• With an approach angle of 36 degree, break-over angle of 28 degree and departure of 50 degree the Jimny can do some serious off-roading.
• Interior will be plush, to come with automatic climate control, Touchscreen infotainment system and keyless entry, engine start/stop button, and automatic headlamps in top trim
• Would be available by 2020 to 2021 at a base price of about INR 8 Lakh.
• Apart from Japan, Assembly is done in Indonesia. India too could potentially have production started.
• A interesting array of solid colours will be available.

With Mahindra unveiling the name Marazzo a couple of days ago, spy shots of their new XUV 700 have again surfaced the web. In a Motoroids exclusive video, we see the test mule cruising through traffic on a busy highway. This premium SUV is aimed against the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Based on the Ssangyong Rexton facelift, the XUV 700 is rumoured to be out in the public before the end of 2018 and will undercut both the Endeavour and Fortuner in terms of pricing.

The bold shoulder lines and the flared wheel arches seen in the spy video add a bit of aggression in the exterior design.The spy shots we showcased earlier also reveal a 5 spoke alloy wheel design. Based on Ssangyongs new body-on-frame platform, the XUV 700 is 4,850mm long, 1,960mm wide and 1,825mm tall. With a wheelbase of 2,865mm the interior leg room is expected to be greatest on offer.

The interior of the XUV 700 features a large infotainment screen which acts like a screen for the 360 degree camera, The camera would provide a 360 degree bird’s eye view of the vehicle which would be pretty useful to park such a huge vehicle. A sunroof and a powered tailgate are also most likely to be on the features list. Mahindra will also carve out  storage place throughout the interior. The seats will be covered in premium leather upholstery.

Underneath the bonnet sits a rather small 2.2 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. Unlike other Mahindra cars which get the mHawk engine, the XUV 700 will use an engine developed by Ssangyong. Producing a total of 178 BHP and 420 Nm torque, the small engine displacement does not seem to be a problem. The engine will be mated to 2 choices of transmissions, a 6-speed manual and a Mercedes-Benz sourced 7-speed automatic transmission. A four wheel drive system is also expected to be present. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India announced the FUNtastic NAVilution spreading across 1 lakh customers. The Honda NAVi is the first 100% indigenously developed model by Honda R&D India i.e. from the concept development to commercial production.

The Honda NAVi will be available in two new international markets – the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica within this year. Currently, NAVi is exported to 10 countries.

The 2018 edition now comes with more features like new stylish fuel gauge and metal muffler protector. It is also available in two new vibrant colours – Ranger Green and Ladakh Brown with new body coloured elements – grab rail, headlight cover, rear view mirrors and sporty red colour cushion spring adding to its FUNtastic looks.

Honda NAVi is powered by 109cc engine which makes 8 PS at 7,000 rpm and delivers a peak torque of 8.96 Nm at 5,500 rpm gets tubeless tyres. It gets upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a hydraulic monoshock at the rear. The NAVi is available at an attractive price of INR 44,775 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The standard NAVi is available in six colour options: Patriot Red, Shasta White, Sparky Orange, Black, NEW Ranger Green, NEW Ladakh Brown.

Speaking on the achievement, Yadvinder Singh Guleria – Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India said that the unconventional design, looks and endless possibilities of customization has helped the Company to engage young two-wheeler enthusiasts not only in India, but around the world.

Mitsubishi has sent out invites for the launch of the ‘New Outlander’ in India which is scheduled to happen on August 20. However, regular visitors would remember that the SUV was launched in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price tag of INR 32 lakh. The official invite did not reveal a lot of details. So, what’s scheduled to be launched on the aforementioned date?

Previous reports indicated that the plug-in hybrid version of the SUV, the Outlander PHEV, will be heading to India and that’s what we expect to happen on August 20. The report also suggested that the Outlander PHEV, which will arrive via the CBU route, will be priced at INR 35 lakh (ex-showroom).

The plug-in hybrid Outlander is already available for sale in international markets where it uses a combination of petrol engine and electric motor configuration. The combination comprises of 2.0L 16-valve inline DOHC MIVEC engine and electric motors fitted at the front and rear. The 4-cylinder engine makes 119 Bhp at 4,500 rpm and a torque of 190Nm at 4,500 rpm. Combined with the electric motor, the Outlander PHEV makes a total of 200 Bhp. The claimed fuel economy stands at an impressive 58 kmpl.

The Outlander PHEV gets three drive modes:

• All-electric mode – In electric mode the Outlander can go a distance of upto 50km.
• Series hybrid – Petrol engine charges the battery
• Parallel hybrid – Petrol engine power the vehicle while the electric motors provides additional assistance

The Hyundai Santro was one of the most successful models to hit the Indian market by the Korean manufacturer. The tall boy design, the spacious interior, the peppy yet efficient engine and the justified pricing made the model an instant hit among us Indians. Their new compact, tallboy design Hatchback, codenamed the AH2 is has been spotted under camouflage. Will the new hatchback be able to gain a fair market share again? With competition from the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Tata Tiago and the Renault Kwid it is going to be a difficult task.

Hyundai recently released a first sketch of the AH2 hatchback. The sketch showcases a accentuated front wheel arch and a straight shoulder line with a bend in the middle. On releasing the sketch Hyundai India commented that the render images depict the company’s respect for the past and confidence of the future. Naamkaran The Great Indian Naming Campaign for The Most Awaited Contemporary Family Car AH2 from Hyundai begins from 16th August. Rumours suggest the AH2 will have an updated version of Hyundai’s 1,086 cc, four cylinder Epsilon petrol engine. Transmission duties would be done by a 5 speed manual and an Automated Manual Transmission(AMT). The first AMT in Hyundai’s lineup. The final name of the car would be unveiled in October 2018. Isuzu Motors India has been selling the world-renowned Isuzu D-MAX Pick-ups and mu-X SUV in India. The Company recently rolled-out the 10,000th vehicle from its manufacturing plant in SriCity, Andhra Pradesh, since its start of production in April 2016. The company had already crossed a cumulative sales of 10,000 units in March 2018, which includes the vehicles that were sold before SoP at SriCity.

More spy images of the upcoming 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz continue to surface as the sedan inches closer to its India launch. The latest spy images come from Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Owners Club, Facebook which capture the exterior and interior details of the upcoming sedan. Spotted at what appears to be a Maruti Suzuki dealership, the upcoming sedan can be seen in the white paint option.

We’ve already seen the exterior of the vehicle in the previous spy images. Thus, as reported before, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift will receive a revised fascia with a new front bumper, redesigned headlamps with chrome inserts, new chrome grille, and chrome accents surrounding the fog lamps. The side of the vehicle reveals the new alloy wheel design while the rear gets refreshed tail lamps, and new rear bumper with chrome inserts. The Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) badge can be seen on the boot-lid.

However, the new spy images reveal the complete dashboard of the vehicle. Inside, the dashboard gets faux wood inlays, and an updated steering wheel which now features a cruise control button. The new instrument console also gets minor revisions, with the fuel indicator now placed right below the speedometer. The interior gets a dual tone finish with a combination of beige and black colour. This is the mid-spec model from the 11 variants of the sedan and thus you won’t see the touchscreen infotainment system.

The new photographs also reveal the revised instrument console that now features a colour display between the tachometer and the speedometer. The fuel and the temperature gauge have been re-positioned. For 2018, the fuel gauge is positioned right under the speedometer while the temperature indicator sits below the tachometer. The positions of the telltale indicators have also be toggled for a refreshed look.

What’s retained from the outgoing model is the trapezoidal shape of the air-con vents and the climate control panel.

BMW India has also prioritized ordering of all spare parts for Kerala dealership workshops to support flood-affected vehicles while off-the-shelf arrangements are also being made for parts supply over the counter as needed.

Additionally, a complimentary Road Side Assistance has been put in action to assist with towing operations in the city for BMW vehicles affected due to flooding. The lead-time for various service repairs has also been reduced with additional technical resources, service consultants and dedicated CRM staff for keeping the customers informed on the repair status.

In regards to the insurance process, both BMW Authorized dealers and BMW India have arranged daily visits of surveyors of both BMW partnered and non-BMW collaborated insurance companies. This will provide ground support for faster assessment and processing of insurance formalities.

BMW India urges its customers to be cautious while driving during heavy rains and around waterlogged areas. A mystery Yamaha roadster was spotted in Indonesia and reports suggest that it’s the next generation Yamaha Xabre, which will be sold as the M-Slaz or the MT-15 in other markets. If you’re confused about the branding, the M-Slaz/MT15 is known as the Xabre in the Indonesian market. The 150cc roadster is the naked version of Yamaha’s track tool, the YZF-R15. The next-generation motorcycle will feature several cosmetic and mechanical updates.

The spy images, shared by motoring portal Iwanbanaran, reveal:

• New headlight (full LED) design
• Redesigned fuel tank which surprisingly looks very similar to the unit on the FZ-S
• Revised, MT-09 inspired fuel tank shrouds
• Revised tail section
• New engine cowl
• Single-piece saddle instead of split seat
• Dual-tone finish for the exhaust with a brushed aluminium finish at the tip
• Clear covers for tail light and blinkers

Apart from the aforementioned changes, the hardware list will continue to use the upside down telescopic suspension upfront, a monoshock at the rear and an identical wheel design from the current generation model.

Mechanical upgrades would most likely include the new 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that powers the latest generation Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0. With the new engine, the performance numbers are likely to go higher that the current motorcycle’s 149 cc liquid cooled fuel injected motor that develops 16 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and 14.3 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The braking department may also witness an upgrade and we may see the same hardware from the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 on the Xabre/M-Slaz/MT-15.

Can we see it in India? The possibility of the MT-15 arriving on Indian shores is low as the two-wheeler brand already has the FZ-S range to compete in the 150-180cc premium motorcycle market. In an unfortunate incident in China, a woman drover a brand new BMW X1 SUV into the dealership while trying to park the vehicle after a test drive. The incident, which took place in Guangzhou City, Southern China was captured on the CCTV camera in the showroom.

As seen in the video footage, it appears that the woman accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes which caused the USD 57,200 SUV to drive through the glass door, and onto the reception area of the showroom before hitting a wall. Some reports suggest that two employees inside the showroom suffered minor injuries while others say that everyone escaped unharmed.
